Muji Hotel, pared-down sense of aesthetics

In Tokyo, Muji opened a hotel furnished with items from their own brand, perfectly embodying their philosophy: comfort, well-being and relaxation.

World-famous for its attention to design, functionality and quality, Japanese household goods company Muji has opened its first hotel in the home country. Expect 79 rooms, from comfortable alcoves to family suites, spread over four floors. The hotel is located above the huge Muji shop of Ginza's chic neighbourhood, full of luxury shops, famed restaurants, trendy coffee shops and nightclubs. For sheer clarity and transparency, Muji Hotel's pricing remains unchanged throughout the year: whether mid-week, during the weekend or a holiday, high or low season, the client always pays the same for a certain room category.

The Muji Hotel Ginza carries the brand's emblematic sober style very well, with environmental responsibility and waste management as main preoccupations. Proud of the “anti-sumptuous, anti-low range” motto, the hotel reveals a particularly stripped-down aesthetic, using natural materials (wood, clay, stone, cotton…). Behind the clear wood bar of the lobby, walls have thus been covered with stones, more precisely paved stones from the former Tokyo tram lines. A large bookshelf brimming with hundreds of Japan-themed books, as well as two galleries where temporary exhibitions are held several times a year will delight design lovers with an interest in the current trends.

A sweet and simple stay, no less!
